*THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA* so back up anything you want to keep!
*THIS DOES VOID YOUR WARRANTY*...

This is how to unlock the bootloader on the Motorola Xoom...
All the links you need to software will be below....

Install these files first!

Link to XDA forum unlcok thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967065

Android SDK (ADB): http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Moto Dev Drivers: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/

I know the video is hard to read so, the Commands I use areas follows:

In the terminal type:
cd C:\AndroidSDK\android-sdk-windows\tools
(For some replace tools with platform-tools)
That command will differ for some people, According to where you installed the android SDK.

Next command is:
fastboot oem unlock

And that should be it! Read the message on your Xoom and Choose to unlock or not...

  • Is this like jailbreaking on the ipad?

  • @HitmanTheGamer Not exactly, Rooting is like jailbreaking on the iPad. This is just the first step so you can root.

  • does this take off all the apps too and can you get them back after??

  • @fatdaddysnacks123 It is like a factory reset, You lose all app and when you re-download the apps you will love all the Data/Game saves that you had before.

  • says waiting for divice.. did i do something wrong.

  • You don't need to move the files. Read the adb_has_moved.txt. All you need to do is CD into Platform-Tools and run adb from there.

  • @andrewpm2 I think you need to by a proper card (3g Motorola card) for it not use your mobile sim

  • My Xoom came unlocked from manufacturer and its the Wifi/3G model. When I insert my T-Mobile SIM card I get nothing... Was hoping to get internet access. I've searched all over the net but couldn't find any definitive answers regarding this particular issue. Any ideas? Am I missing something?

  • for me it says fastboot is not recognized as a external or internal command

  • Done successfully ,,, thanks man :)

  • okay... on my xoom it keeps saying device unlock operation aborted
