This is a binary calculator built using the program "Phun," found here:

http://www.phunland.com/wiki/Home

Phun is an AMAZING little application that very accurately creates a two-dimensional physical environment using basic shapes, hinges, anchors, springs, chains and much much more.

The calculator here is a very basic look at how to add numbers using binary. The "thought experiment" I address in this video is the question "how many numbers can you represent using the five fingers on your hand?"

The answer is: 31! Watch the movie to learn more.

  • The description is on the bottom. Time for an update?

  • and for translating to dec just try to use 10 marbles in each coloumn. so when there is coming the 11th marble the coloumn should drop all the 10 marbles in it, add the 11th marble to the next coloumn ) I`ve tried to do it but... anyway great with that white things ) nicely done!

  • need to try to connect that system to objects with 0 and 1 written on them, make a marble container on the top, some system than delivers worked marbles back to the container to use them multiple times. And make a trigger that pluses 1 to the smallest digit (pulls the next marble). Also make the same machine, place it on the top of the 1st one and make a summing machine that summs 2 numbers ) not sure how it actually could be done. And make a translator to the decimal )
