"Please, Please, Please' was written by James Brown along with Johnny Terry, and the song was used as the first recording by James and His Famous Flames on the Federal Record label in 1956. A million-seller for Brown, this song was soon covered by The "5" Royales who recorded for King, a sister label, and this version has become something of a rarity among record collectors.

  • If the original is by James Brown, then why are you calling this version "(Original)"? It makes no sense.

  • @hwgray The word "original" as used in the context of these recordings applies only to the song as recorded by that artist and not the song itself. In other words, this is the original recording of "Please, Please, Please" by the "5" Royales and not a re-recording of that song by that group. The only reason I even use this designation is because there are so many re-recordings of songs by artists posted to YouTube.
