Iwane Laboratories exhibited its "Active Link Vision (ALV)" at the 16th Industrial Virtual Reality Expo. Active Link Vision is an all-purpose 3D GIS product that combines various functions and a full array of technology developed by Iwane Laboratories for three-dimensional analysis from full perimeter images. The Active Link Vision road position control system has been sold to roughly 72% of the National Highway Offices of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) throughout Japan and is used mainly as a system for road position control related searches. The ALV system can capture images of the entire 360° surroundings and also recognize three-dimensional space formation. By creating three-dimensional space, Active Link Vision can be used in landscape simulations including three-dimensional measurements from actual photo data as well as 3D CAD applications.
this "new" 3d simulation of panoramic photos technology would be great addition -improovment if it was used in google street view which until now only displays stationary 360 degrees photos at points in a street(s) at cities , one day perhaps it could also dispay open geoglraphic areas like the ones we now see at google earth but with very limited 3d quality :)))))
