This video demonstrates how to apply realistic tall grass in HO with a home-made static grass applicator. The $30 home-made applicators works like the $160 Noch Grass Master, but costs considerably less! For a detailed step-by-step video on building this home-made applicator, see: http://model-trains-video.com/MTV-0011.php ... DVD volume 5 also will include detailed how-to instructions on doing realistic model railroad scenery. Also see:
http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com for lots more free model railroading how-to info.

  • What grass fibers were used in this video? This is exactly the kind of tall grass I need to model. Looks great!

  • This is 6mm Scenic Express grass - autumn blend.

  • what is this for?

  • For making tall grass in model scenes - like on a model railroad or a military model diorama.

  • I introduced the static grass applicator to my model railroad club last Saturday. There is concern among some that are involved with the DCC / electronics and software that there could be some side effects associated with the use of an external high voltage application on or near the track. I am doing some research in various sites not only for my education but also to confirm or ease thier concerns. Do you know of any issues or can you lead me to an answer pro or con?

    Thanks,

    DanM

  • Dan:

We've seen no issues whatsoever - it's just artificially produced static electricity - no worse than what you get when you rub your feet on a rug and then touch the track.

  • Hi Joe Fugate,

Greetings.. may i know the schematic diagram of these things? since i want to build it but i need the schematic diagrams.. thanks..

  • do you know how to make realistic static grass or where to buy some in europe???

  • Thats awesome! that will work great for wheat fields.

  • The nail *is* the ground point - you connect the grounding wire on the applicator to the nail to complete the static circuit.
