my husband and I were just fishing there this week, and caught nothing. What amazed me was the amount of swimmers so close to the pier and the run-off.
We have a vacation home about a block from the pier. We always see those black tips hanging around the pier, usually more on the northern side. I have also seen a couple much larger sharks (ten to twelve ft long) on a few occasions. Ever see tigers around there? They are MUCH larger than the blacktips, but I'm not 100% sure what they are...
sharks are in every damn ocean not just near piers at every beach in the damn world therer are sharks only a few yards into the water just everywhere most sharks blacktips bulls sandbar lemon dogfish prefer very shallow crashing waves at beaches than deep water they actually are farther from piers than they are from swimming areas they like open beaches not structual

I live in Myrtle Beach and definitely will stay away from swimming near the piers! Yikes!
