Those carry one heck of a kick! I never realized how much of a kick cannons give until playing a game, they show the damn things nearly blowing people back. Several movies show them firing blanks, so theirs no recoil. Came across these posts and wow! Yep one heck of a recoil! And those cannons aren't lite!

I am the corporal in the video, That is an Original 20pdr Parrot Rifle, The men crewing the piece are with Battery I First US Light Artillery. Paulson Brothers are good friends of ours and let us crew their piece down in FT. Sill Oklahoma.
If u want more information search us out on facebook as Battery I FIrst US

Yah, that is a 10 pounder, not a 20 pounder Parrot rifle. It is much to narrow and short.

@solutions7000 Well you would be wrong.

Well, now that you mention it, the barrel is too narrow and short to be a 20 pounder. Oh well, lets just add 10 and 20, and then divide by 2. We can call it a 15 pounder. Not manufactured by the North or South, but maybe the Northeast or Southwest? :D
Either way, cool video. Is that thing an original? Where are the Paulson Brothers finding such examples? How can they be safe to fire after such time? Simply amazing. Thank you guys for finding the time to do this!

@solutions7000 It's probably just the shitty camera. Considering the difference in a 10lb & 20lb parrot rifle is roughly maybe 6" and couple hundred pounds in weight, I doubt my camera picked it all up.
The Paulson Brothers have an extensive collection of field artillery. Whether or not this particular gun is original I dont recall. Im sure it probably is, but they also a wide range of reproduction artillery carriages, liners, and the sorts.
