http://www.USH2.com/biogas_stove_sale.htm Wood Chips are put into a soda can and heat is applied, a flame shoots out of the soda can as the wood chips are turned into ENERGY in the form of hydrogen, carbon monoxide (flamable) and other volatile organic compounds that can all be captured and used in a stove or a car or home.

  • Can't concentrated sunlight be used as the heat source for wood gasification? Fresnel lens or parabolic trough?

Also, could a rocket stove be made to produce wood gas via a gasification chamber in the flue? Rocket stoves are cheap to build & get 1400 to 2000 degrees heat.

  • @mangyscavenger yes, concentrated sunlight CAN be used for this...that's one of the advantages of solar power and ANY STOVE makes 1600 to 2000 degrees F temperature. A match gets to be 1600-1650F. Although you keep on talking like rocket stove is some infinite source of power light a light saber, it is not. Its just as simple self drafting insulated stove that has a much higher efficiency than an open camp fire.

  • why not put a bunch of saw dust in a sealed tank with electric heaters.

and insulate it. Start it off with 110 or 220 volts and then use 12 volt batteries to sustain the damn thing and run your car..

  • @josephdupont saw dust on itself is a great insulator, so its hard to heat up a pile of saw dust quickly, and you would not use electric heat because 1: the car can't make enough, the alternator is not a light saber of infinite power, and 2: because you probably would not get enough gas from the wood to make up what you just used in electricity.

  • Love this vid...awesome.

It reminds me of an old fashioned oil fired heating boiler for home heating. The oil is laid on a heated plate with a flame under it to heat it up and the lower flame then mixes with the fumes created by heating the oil on the heater plate. Perfect combustion. I find this concept fascinating.

  • This was delightfully informative science. I look forward to viewing your practical application follow-up vids. Thanks!

  • nice vid. very informative thanks for info. :)

  • Wood gas is fun. Mother Earth news used to have articles in their mag before they went laim.

  • Another great video. Very informative. I'm going to check out the others. Still wish I could get on your website to check out your publications.

  • I'm sure others were thinking the same thing... I am kinda direct though... ;)
