  • That's an original (if there is such a thing in the Celtic world) tune by this band. You'll find it on their first album, I believe, available at the best record stores or through Amazon.

  • Isn't this Slainte Va from cape breton?

  • Bet yer boots they are - and they were giving the dancin' lessons in Ontario (at Celtic Camp). It's the young McNeil's at fiddle and keyboards there. And I went to your McDade's page and loved hearing your tune, including the featured low D flute - I've been saving my shekels for one since listening to a long set by the Battlefield Band. Best - michaelbix

  • Oh really? That's great! I guess you know what it's all about then! Looks like a great show. Love the music!!

  • Slainte M'thah definitely gets positive mention at this Sessions page - http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display/4353. Also, there's more about the band (they have at least 2 CD's out in Canada) at

    http://www.slaintemhath.com... you'll find a lot of photos at -

http://slaintemhath.tripod.com/pics.html and can find the CD's online through Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000068QR0/103-2001645-4159052?v=glance&n=5174 Enjoy.

  • That's Great though I must admit I hate drum kits in this kind of music. Whats wrong with a bodhran? They're perfect. Anyway, couldn't here the violins to start with but apart from that I enjoyed. Would be great in trad clothing or something a little less informal... I guess its mostly the guy in shorts that looks out of place.

  • Well Retaw, if you have been looking for a trad band, these folks don't fit the bill as they're not a trad band. Easy enough. Slainthe's just another one of those hot-jumping kid bands that everybody loves who wants the combination of Scots-Irish-Breton music with modern arrangements and lots of informal fun. No harm, right? Bix

  • The 2nd tune "Glass of Beer" - traditional Irish.

  • I saw this band, several years ago, in Montgomery, AL at a Highlands Festival. They were so entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed it! They sound even better in person.

  • Clan Du, eh? Not very likely, if by "Clan Du" you mean the shouty things YouTube produces.... not very musical. The Slainte Mhath tunes in this set are found on their CDs.

  • The second tune isn't original i don't think... I'm pretty sure Clan Du played something very very similar

  • What is that pipe tune?

  • no harm at all. looks like a great time had by all.
