NEWS A brief farewell to Borders and Tyne Tees Television station now sadly merged. Gone but not forgotten. We will miss them all. So wish someone would set up a new Independent television service giving us back all out old favourites such as STV, Grampian, Anglia, TTTV, ABC, ATV, Yorkshire, HTV, Central oh I could go on and on..................................... • Shame to see so much of regional tv been cut back, but it seem like local tv could be making a comeback in 2013 and beyond, As local media network are bidding for the local Channel 6, so local cities and towns like Cambridge could see a local tv networks on their door step, just like America, cant wait !!

  • @scottvideos100 as long as it is not a repeat of Live TV ! in the 80/90's

  • Are you using the BBC news track!?

  • @TheMrqamarul , Yes I was trying to be ironic by using the BBC News24 theme tune rather than ITN

  • I was born in 1960 and Tyne Tees was part of growing up, its most definately not the same any more, lots and lots of stations to watch, yet nothing to watch. The names that come to mind - Paul Frost, anyone remember Charlotte Allen ? - Today at 6, and on the other side George House, Tom Killgour and of course Mike Neville who was in the BBC Tees studio the other week and looks realy well. Bring back proper regional TV

  • @rexeljetsmocks Except when it was a dual region (1992-2009), when your Anglia News would have come from Cambridge.

  • STV is still here!

  • I find it sad that now the central east news, which was once in Nottingham- not particularly close to where I live- is now in Birmingham gas street. even further away. Then again my other region is Anglia, which has their headquarters in Norwich- even further away (although they can be let off because that's always been where Anglia news was made)

  • Coming from Teesside it is a bit galling to have to put up with news solely based around Tyneside or the Border regions. However, it has only come to my attention that there are two transmissions of TTTV (TTTVN & TTTVS) so I think I will be writing to Virginmedia, whose NE HQ is based on Teesside to ask why they broadcast TTTVN. No logic whatsoever.

  • They are now talking about taking a cut of the license fee from the BBC to fund local news on ITV in future. Michael Grade has said that the company cannot continue to fund local news for much longer otherwise, which I think is disgusting. I share your concerns for the erosion on regionality on ITV. Like I said the North East and the South West have both been hit the hardest so far, which is unfortunate, as TTTV was an excellent broadcaster in its time.
