@distefano13069609 the aria was deleted, he fell flat on his face and the music was stopped, after a few minutes someone came out and said he was ill but would finish singing the opera. He did so beautifully, may he just wanted to skip this aria. At the previous performance, a couple of days earlier, he didnt sing the high A flat at end of the vendetta and someone in the audience did :) ...
i saw him sing he role in 76 or 77, he did a fine job, but im curious about sergios comment about quilico singing the role in 1970 but not singing this aria, i cant imagine that. was the aria deleted or did another singer come in
Louis Quilico came to Covent Garden in the late 1950s and for some incomprehensible reason they failed to sign him up as a regular artist. He had the most outstanding Baritone voice, especially in The Queen of Spades. This is wonderful, thank you.

I saw him singing Rigoletto in 1970.... magnificent voice! He was ill at that time and didnt sing the Cortiggiani though!
