It's really tempting to take the lazy way out and get a huge board that catches any ripple and than pretend that your boring rides are laid back and therefore cool. That's why its so amazing to see a girl that has the confidence, discipline and lack of fear required to step it up a notch, tough it out in the line up with when it gets steep and shred girl style.

Longboaring can be cool in a easy listing sort of way. When it's really flat I'll borrow a friends 8 and a half foot SUV log and spend a relaxing day sunning myself, but logboarding tricks like stepping or nosepicking or whatever no much less fun than and no more graceful than the kind of loose carving you can do on a short.

My point was not that longboarding was lame, it was that girls riding longboards are nothing special.

Girls riding longboards are nothing special.

There are plenty of old guys and weekend warriors who can walk the plank. Youtube even has surfing dogs, so why not a few gidgets.

What I really love to see are girl's on shortboards. There's nothing cooler than watching a girl shred on a shorboard or have the balls to paddle out when the waves get huge.
