Jim miraculously sorted out how to play this in his car, on the drive over...so we busted it out pronto, and the wonder is that we were able to play anything else, all night long.
This recording is of the mostly instrumental exploration that immediately followed. My guitar is too loud, as usual, or Jim's isn't loud enough -- though it will be when we play this at South Coast Plaza this Friday. Anyhow... I was able to dive fairly deep into 'the zone' with this one, despite a couple of clangorous clams. This is roughly how I'd like to be able to play, all night long, all the time.
We've both been entranced by this song forever, and I've worked it up a couple of times, but singing the chorus, which climbs to f# and visits g, is just out of reach for me -- but not at all for Jim... very fortunately...!
When this kiss is over... it will start again.
It will not be any different... it will be exactly the same.
It's hard to imagine... that nothing at all...
could be so exciting... could be this much fun.
