Non-linear editing? For the ultimate file-based workflow, multi-cam mode with edit in up to 16 camera views, and dozens of other astonishing features, you must see EDIUS 6. Watch the cool video now! Then you decide.
@kitirik13 - sorry buddy but you are obviously not an experienced editor when it comes to EDIUS. If you were, you would already know that EDIUS offers outstanding compositing capabilities by using the Canopus HQ and HQX codecs that are included w/ every EDIUS system. When animations are created from applications like After Effects, LightWave, 3D Studio or Maya, you save them into the Canopus HQ file format which allow alpha channel for realtime keying over other video layers in EDIUS. The BEST!
I have them all, FCP, Vegas, Adobe Suite, Avid and this is the best of the lot. I have both platforms and Edius is where I center all my work because it takes in everything.. mixes them all and outputs to anything... no rendering...no waiting...weddings only?? I think not. Is it singularly as deep as After Effects?...no...that's why I have After Effects.
@kitirik13 doesn't know Edius. I've edited infomercials Edius and Vistitle titler (look it up) and produced great shows that made millions for the clients. For very complicated scenes, You can use After Effects, and save out a AVI for Edius. There's really not much you can't do, if your creative. I dumped FCP for sitting there having to render. And re-coding just about 90% of injest. Good grief.
It's a good editor...as long as you're not very creative. Once you get past the canned plug-ins and color effects, there's not much left. No good paint plugins (even the Boris is lame), and no real compositing. No 3D space, no additive or multiplicative layers, no tracking, no nodes.... If all you do is wedding videos, then this is the system for you.
Yes, they said the person that wrote Imaginate does not work there any more and no one from grassvalley have a que to to make it work in Eduis 6, so they had to discontuine the product, We are so disappointed. We stuck for ever with eduis 5 we can't run a fast production with out it.
I made a search there are lots of E shops still selling Imagiate if have to work it must be a matter of an update. its still new. did you right to them?
I have also Imaginate I did not know that, That would be a propblem for me to upgade to Eduis 6 as well, as I have lots of work with imaginate, they will be missing files if I would open with eduis 6, are you sure it does not take ivp files? imaginate software is a grass valley product how can they stop this program. Thanks for letting me know
I bought Eduis 6 we fine it very good, but we so disappointed It does not take Imaginate files IVP any more, we do real-estate videos and we handle over 1000 images a day, Imaginate was a great tool for a team of 20 to sub prepare the work. now we are buying more Eduis 5 incase we need more licences in the future, so sad.
