Palace theater NY 1973. Mahavishnu at their most spiritual, into Mahavishnu at their most adrenalized. Everybody tap your feet to this hip little dancing tune! ok let's count: 1 2 3 4 5 6 - 1234567

  • @uncasist Bogue. This mix is different from my audio tape of the original broadcast and a bootleg video I have of same, but is like the Wolfgang's Vault mix in that it's like the guitar was split between clean and dirty and this is just the clean. The guitar could sing, listen to about any other recording of it.

  • @uncasist even as an old McLaughlin fan i have to agree, the guitar sound in celestial....is rather bad , much too dry ,without power, but it has one advantage , one can hear the extreme precision of john's timing because of the clean sound.

  • McClaughlin's custom made Bogun(?) guitar sounds like crap compared his old SG doubleneck. No definition in the sound- no balls. I read somewhere that he put it on a chair in the middle of a gig and it fell and split right in half. It does look nice and I believe the twelve string neck is thinner and the second row of strings closer together.

  • nuthin like a little tune in 19/8 ( with one bar in 18/8 [or 9/4 if you prefer]) to wake up your inner metronome!!

Long Live the Mahavishnu Orchestra- the band that defined ( in my opinion) what we call "fusion" !!!!!!!!!!!

  • This version of ' celestial terrestrial...' is a bit too fast for me. I like the studio take better.

  • WOOOOOOOONDERFUL! unique band!

thanks a lot for the music!

  • Wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this video of the awesome MO at their awesomest!

  • hot hot hot!

  • My god, Jan Hammer was such a genius. Too bad he made all this crap in the 80's (but then, who didn't :)...

  • A little too fast for ya Jerry?
