In a showdown of nationally ranked teams, the Flying Dutch on Oct. 13 2010 swept rival Calvin in three sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, to move into a tie for first place in the MIAA. The victory by the #12 ranked Flying Dutch over #9 Calvin avenged an earlier loss and puts both teams at 10-1 in the MIAA standings. With seven straight victories, coach Becky Schmidt's Dutch are 14-4 overall. The match was witnessed by a DeVos Fieldhouse crowd of 2,073. Jacie Fiedler led the Dutch at the net, tying a school record for kills (17) in a three-set match. Kara VandeGuchte followed with 12 kills. Jessica Maier led the defense with 17 digs while Cassidy Bulthuis and Greer Bratschie followed with 13 and 10 respectively.
