  • @simipari how long is a piece of string? if your baby sleeps with you (i'm talking about safe bedsharing) he will most likely sleep all night, feeding on and off whilst you both sleep. In a cot is not a natural environment for a baby and makes sleep disrupted for both of you as you have to feed him. In a cot at that age you should take whatever you get with gratitude- don't be misled by smug people saying their babies slept 12hrs from 6wks or whatever- every baby is different, and so are you

  • also, anyone who says, "i was sleep trained, never did me any harm"- take a good long think- is that how you were designed by nature- to just survive? it's like saying, i've smoked all my life and it never harmed me- is the fact you're not dead proof of this, or could you have been more, was there more potential for you? a baby is designed to cry for attention because attention and love are as vital as food and sleep.

  • this man knows nothing about the neurological sleep functions of a baby's brain. he also clearly does not understand that he's feeding the myth that babies DO NOT CRY to piss you off or out of habit- they cry because something is not right- usually that they need attention (is that a bad thing? we sleep with partners for comfort etc but expect a baby to comfort themselves?) and yes, sometimes food. Ignore this "expert"- trust your instincts- they're there for a reason.
