In Detroit: In the top of the 6th inning Justin Verlander is leading the Detroit Tigers to victory, with the score 2-1. With Kevin Youkilis on second base, one out, and a rising pitch count, Verlander stares down David Ortiz, knowing that with one stroke of the bat he can turn the tide of the game. He gets the fly ball he wants, but he couldn't count on a great throw from reserve Outfielder Josh Anderson, who was giving regular Center Fielder Curtis Granderson a day off. Anderson's throw to nail Youkilis at third ends the inning and helps preserve the lead, as the Tigers would go on to win the game 3-2.
Why do you have all these backups playing? Larish instead of Inge? Anderson instead of Granderson? (Andersons on Royals now) And somebody instead of Laird behind the plate?

#1 Anderson started the season on the Tigers.
#2 Name a Tigers player who has played 162 games.

Answer: Since 1996, only one Tigers player has played in 162 games. Brian Hunter did it in 1997. Only two have played in 160+. Hunter, and Miguel Cabrera in 2008 (160).
In that time, there have been 16 times that a player has even played in 155 games and 28 times they've played in 150.
In that time, only three times has a catcher played in 135+ games (Ausmus 150 in 2000, Rodriguez 136 in '06, Rodriguez 135 in '04)
My point? Backups play. Especially catchers.

This is correct. The artist is "A Tribe Called Quest". I habitually load songs from previous versions of the MLB the Show series into my playlists for the current year's game.
