The three legends will perform their Tribute to Miles at North Sea Jazz. Bassist Marcus Miller contrived and produced the tribute, for which he was able to contract Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, who both performed on legendary Miles albums. The occasion for the initiative is the fact that Miles Davis died twenty years ago. Miller was involved with great Davis albums like The Man With the Horn and Tutu, while Hancock and Shorter had already experienced adventures with the trumpeter in the sixties. Davis has changed his style many times during his career, and this will also be a characteristic of the tribute. It will focus on works from the fifties through the eighties. Yet the threesome, accompanied by trumpeter Sean Jones and drummer Sean Richman, also wants to look toward the future. Marcus Miles: "It wouldn't be in the spirit of Miles if we were to just look back."
