Freshers week footage of new students testing out the rare and exciting Paternoster. This one is found in the Attenborough Tower of the University of Leicester, UK. But what happens if you forget to get off at the top!?

  • hi folks can anyone confirm if the paternoster is still in use?. if it is what is the chance of someone who is not a student gaining access inside the building to ride on the paternoster?.

  • @b440ckw I don't know if it is still in use - but if it is then non-students can just walk right in the building and check it out!

  • @inoy0 i can confirm that the paternoster is alive and kicking. i went to check it out and went for a trip round it today. i decided to go down first which took me straight into the dark pit. so then i stayed on and went all the way round until i got to level 2 again. it was quite scary jumping on for the first time and getting off was even worse. but it was good fun. bet half the uni have spent time checking out the cool paternoster.

  • @b440ckw good job turning youtube into real life b440ckw!

  • why are some of the cabins "blocked" off? are there more people on the other side???

  • @skibxskatic actually, they aren't blocked off. Thats how much space is required for the machinery behind the paternoster.

  • O.O does it go around at the top??? that is crazy....

  • What is you trip up and fall and it keeps going up? A Final Destination type death?

  • shit this is dangerus

  • I'm wondering who came up with this death-lift concept?

  • I last went over the top on that thing thirty five years ago. Feeling old.

  • scary.

  • @xAbre1200 This is a god question. I'm guessing they shouldn't use it. But is that am emergency stop button in the middle? Maybe they could push that, turn around and roll in it backwards so they'd be facing the right way to get out. Maybe.

  • @AnonymousKdub Nope, once it reaches the top it starts moving sideways and then straight down, so you always stay upright, but that'd be pretty funny but dangerous if it flipped you lol

  • @b440ckw Wikipedia states there are still some functional in the world, I'd be interested in riding one for sure.
