On the very first episode of our series, we find out what happens when you put a well-made banjo in the hands of someone with zero banjo experience! Perhaps the real test of an instrument is not what it can do in the hands of a skilled professional, but how well it inspires a novice to learn and create.

  • Ken, i would try the big online retailers like Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, etc. this one was on loan from someone, so i'm not sure where he got it. hope this helps! -- Peter

  • "...nor do I intend to."

This was great! Not only do I feel like learning to play the banjo, but I feel I've enough basic knowledge to pick out a decent one and hold it rightside up!

    Thanks!

  • >but I feel I've enough basic knowledge to pick out a decent one and hold it rightside up!

yeah, about that... my MacBook apparently flips webcam videos backward to create a "mirror" effect... which means you should actually do the opposite of what i'm doing in the video...

you see, this is really a MIS-education campaign we're running here. MUAHAHAHAAAAA!!

  • No wonder people were chucking gravel at me when I pulled out my banjo at the bus stop hoping to make some lunch money! Your evil plot, ahh!

  • no, no: that means they wanted an encore! (i speak a little Appalachian...)

  • i.e. "i know exactly shit about the banjo, so it kinda begs the question as to where i get off making an 'instructional video' about the thing..." all i can say is; YouTube server space is free!
