II have just finished Professor Keene's "World within walls", his study of pre-Meiji-Restoration literature. It was absolutely wonderful. This man has contributed so much to the understanding of Japanese literature in the west and he writes beautifully. An absolute gem of a book.
Am beginning, and so far equally enjoying, "Dawn to the West".
