The pattern on the foxing is not necessarily for grip-my 1985's original have a pattern, but were meant for basketball. I also have a pair of 2004 Bruin Air Max forest green suede with the air bubble in the heel! I haven't worn them yet! I like your inside cloth lining rather than the vinyl mine has. Wear those "biggies" in good health and remember to brush them!
