MIAMI (CBS4) - Daesha Rogers says she likes winning because she gets to play with her friends and have fun.
A South Florida girl is making headlines for being one speedy sprinter. In fact, Daesha Rogers of Miami is the fastest 8-year-old and under runner in the U.S.
Rogers won 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes in an ametur race in Miami LakeShe said that during her first track meet her dad realized she was gifted. "My daddy said I run a good race and I was happy, so I kept on running," Rogers told CBS4's Shomari Stone.
On Dec. 1, 2007, she earned national attention at the AAU Cross Country meet in Virginia Beach. Rogers won the 2000 meter race, in 7 minutes and 52 seconds and the 200 meters dash, running 29 point 36 seconds.
