@Jeff You can get the "Call Dragon" shout from just finishing the main story in Skyrim

and yeah, i have diablo 3 mainly cuz some friends were all excited. its just sittin there on some dvd's, staring at me. it's games like that which taught gamers to skip cutscenes and dialogue. and pretty much most games. sigh

im totally with you when u word it like that, however and i have to laugh at myself as i say this, elder scrolls is all side quests to me. I feel as much fr ma side quest as i do from their main quest, and thats just because they have weak story telling for the most part. I thin kthe main factor is that i dont "buy" ANY of the people. But in elder scrolls, they dont give u astory, they give u a world, therefore whatever u do feels like part of your story. and that works sometimes.

I play single player games for the quest, storyline and adventure. I find it tedious having to do other tasks that does not affect my gameplay in any way. That's why i hated diablo 3. Replaying a game isn't my idea of fun. Only game I enjoyed for nonsensical sidequests was FF7.

I have Witcher 2, but it lost me fairly early on, I need to give it another go. That is what i would consider much more of a story based game (set character, specific events, etc) but having not played 1 may have influenced my loss of engagement. There seemed to be a fair few occasions of them talking about things before in detail from 1 that I had no idea about. and wait, you only care about one tiny portion of the game because you're a gamer? what does that even mean lol

    Because I'm a gamer.

Just wasn't my cup of coffee. I much prefered Witcher 2 that year

Really respect middle guy's (Jeff?) handle on what the team behind Heavy Rain is about. Games are ready to start aturing, and the success and speed of that will depend almost entirely on fans maturing along with that, such as Jeff shows. Traditional style games will always have a place too, but there is more than enough room for both

thats missing the point entirely. Skyrim has never been about storyline, they have a reason for you to go from place to place, but the writing is rarely ever anything cinematic or comparable to a truly great story. Skyrim is about the character you create, and the world bethesda did. You form your own choices and reasoning for the guy/gal/beast thing you make, and your own sort of story is formed by what they do. How could you only play Skyrim for one set of missions when there are so much more?
