  • 'Kaya' was based on an actual event. Bob & Lee 'Scratch' Perry were in Hanover parish JA. visiting Lee's mother, & they ran out of herb & looked like they'd have difficulty getting any because it was about to rain heavily. But 'Kaya' was not slang for ganja, it was fibres in the husks of coconuts that were used to fill mattresses in rural Jamaica. But Lee insisted they call it that & produced the song.
