  • @delinquent000 There aren't any other major drawbacks to a soft mod as opposed to a hard mod that I can think of right now.

  • @delinquent000 You don't need a mod chip for it to technically be a hard mod, you can TSOP mod the console by soldering some wires to the bottom of the board to make the bios flashable. The major advantages are being able to use any ide/pata hard drive completely unlocked (you can put in a bigger hd with a soft mod, but it is a pain) and to be able to flash modified bios images to your console, like to change your splash screen or even turn it into a debug kit.

  • @delinquent000 what are other benefits of a hard mod? and if im correct, a hard mod is when chips are replaced/modded and whatnot? and soft modding it would be able to get me my emu's? because that's all I really want. 'til i get on and do it i would move onto a hard mod.

  • @xb0xisbetter directory, usually on the .... E or F drive, depending on if you put a bigger hard drive in or not. You can use any old roms for pc based console emulators.

  • @delinquent000 Well, you just have to softmod the console (unless you want the added features of a hard mod). There should still be tutorials floating around about that. All you need is an action replay for the original Xbox, or be cheap like me and splice a usb male plug onto an Xbox controller to transfer files to and from a computer with the action replay software. Once it is soft modded with whatever dashboard you chose, you just need surreal64 and a goldeneye rom in your apps

  • @xb0xisbetter should explain how to do this...so i can buy an xbox and mod it and play just all sorts of emulators and homebrew

  • @jeepsrt1231 Oh, yeah, that is how the menu in surreal 64 looks. In my opinion it is the best Nintendo 64 emulator for the original Xbox console. I am pretty sure the music is from an old Nintendo 64 game I have played too, I can't pin down which one right now. I hope everyone knows I didn't make any of the applications in this video. I was just demonstrating how Goldeneye plays on the original Xbox.

  • 0:44 Coll theme song and James Bond looks cool.

  • @Canadian789119 I have the system, and the game. The advantages of software emulation of old consoles is you don't need to dig through a pile of cartridges and you don't need like 10-20 consoles connected to one tv. I actually also find it kind of entertaining that you can play a nintendo 64 game on an xbox. lol
