On this day, i traveled to the outer limits of Lima, Peru...... to find a small non profit organization called the "ARK OF LOVE" and this is that story....
these children live in ghettos or poorly-built shacks, many (or most?) have been repeatedly beaten and/or sexually abused, that until recently they had no access to school or good nutrition, that they were just left to themselves in the streets and were exposed to drug and gang violence, etc... And that we try to help them by mobilizing the mothers, getting funds or motivation or connectiosn to provide access to a school, we inculcate spiritual and moral values to help them heal the trauma from their terrible childhood and prevent them from spiralling down into the all-too common cycle of drug and alcohol abuse, prostitution, gang violence, etc...

How about a website please? Google doesn't bring up any results for Arc Of Love. I have a friend in Ayacucho Peru who does this as a sideline. As he put it, "If you've got a suitcase full of used shoes, you are a walking human relief agency."
