How to use expression2 in gmod

Since i relized there was a lack of e2 tutorials on you tube i decided to make one.In this tutorial it shows you how to make a very simple expression code in e2 that when you walk past a ranger it counts up and can reset it back to zero. knowing the information i gave can help you make other stuff like at the end i show you a mine.
**This is a very basic e2 tutorial for people new to expression 2**

How come when I spawn an expression 2 gate it doesn't have any variables or even a name? I type in everything correctly but it just appears blank ingame.
