Martin Scorsese ALMOST MISSED this! He had several cameramen covering the legendary concert (it is said "This Is Spinal Tap" was inspired by Marty's film) but their cameras only held ten minutes of film.

Thus every now and again, they'd pop into the booth for a refill. And when Muddy burst forth, they had ALL run out of film at the SAME TIME - bar ONE. After they had furiously reloaded and DASHED out, the other guy came in.

Quivering, Marty said, "Did you..."

"Don't worry," smiled the cameraman, patting his camera, "I got it."

Which is why a big chunk in the middle of the piece is ALL ONE SHOT!

  • All the cameramen went on break during this performance, Marty Scorsese panicked and thought he wouldnt catch this piece of history. So glad one cameraman stayed behind. Now thats a miracle if I ever did see one. Okay I'm done..Just love this DVD!!!!

  • Absolutely gorgeous! Muddy Waters, The Band, and Paul Butterfield together on stage! I love that concert!

  • @dakarlion1 Hoochie Coochie Man By Muddy Water's was the first to use this riff in 54', followed by Bo'Diddley's I'm a Man in 55'. Muddy Waters then returned to the studio to produce an answer record to Bo'Diddley's version and Mannish Boy was created. Both released in 55' though.
