Jimmy Clausen ended Notre Dame's long bowl drought -- and Hawaii's bid for a fourth straight Hawaii Bowl victory -- with a record-breaking passing night. Clausen set Notre Dame bowl records with 401 yards passing and five touchdowns to lead the efficient Fighting Irish to their first postseason victory in 15 years, 49-21 over Hawaii. • @sciowapker Very true! And when this does happen lesser (dont think lesser is a word lol) programs and lesser rivals talk so much trash during this time I can't stand it.

  • 22 of 26, and each of the four incompletions hit his receivers in the hand. Clausen was not clutch, he underperformed in big situations, and he was more than kind of a dick. But damn, when he was on, I've never seen a Notre Dame quarterback throw as well as he could. He could put it on the money from distance. Just see Golden Tate's TD catch against USC in '09. Tate gets credit for hanging in while Taylor Mays went for his head, but Clausen put it in the only spot Tate could catch it.

  • @weeezerguy812 Uh, guess again.

  • haha, wow. you dont get more of a home bowl game than this lol. notre dame has sucked lately, sucks to see programs like that not do so well. this was a good game to watch though, hawaii shouldn't have been in a bowl game. the wac = weak ass conference

  • Back at 6-6, is it true they may not accept a Bowl bid? I'm not an Irish fan but it would be surprising

  • I wonder what Lee Corso thinks of Notre Dame now that they have great talent on offense (not so much on D but thank god for Manti Te'o) and they are 2 plays away from being 7-0, and possibly and at large BCS Bid. IF the Irish win out, pending the Pitt game which will be HUGE, they might be able to sneak in, in my opinion

  • This may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard

  • I couldn't agree more. The reason Weis has had the two worst seasons in history is because he didn't inherit talented underclassmen. When 07' came around, he started from scratch. And people aren't realizing that....sure, we had two bad years, but in those two years, all the touchdowns were scored by underclassmen. Think what Quinn and Samardzija did when transitioning to their junior year. The next two years have alot in store for this team, as well as Charlie Weis

  • Not really, if you think about it he does have a point (I'm an ND fan btw, so im not hating or anything); all the way up until Lou Holtz's last year in South Bend, the Irish were EXPECTED to - at the very least - earn an invite to a January bowl game. Since than, people are satisfied with them getting to any bowl game period... and thats just plain terrible

  • For the record, I have bled Blue and Gold since Joe Thiesman was the qb. But Weis has stunk up the joint. Yes, great recruiter....horrible coach. Gerry Faust II.

I think he should have been fired after last year. 12-0 redeems him. Anything less,,,he's got to go.
