you missed the part where he says "i'll sit down and have a little chat" referring he will tell his dad about him destroying the car and then after that it should show Cameron smiling and showing "Cameron Frye 1969-1986 you will be missed"

This is very much in the spirit of the Breakfast Club. Inner rage, trying to be yourself (and often stumbling) amid the chaos of home and life. Nowadays I cry when I see this scene.

To me, this film has always been about Cameron. It's about his own inner turmoil. The other characters represent aspects of Cameron's conflict. Ferris is that childlike carefree innocence and Rooney is either his father or society in general with a bizarre obsession with trying to shut him down at all costs. Jeannie is Cameron's conscience battling against his cravings, operating on fear and jealousy. Sloane is teenage sexuality and the teenage perspective of freedom in sex (Sloane + Ferris.)
