Xygni and FinishedCookie review the new downloadable Rock Band songs for the week of February 24th, 2009:

Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble full album

Love Struck Baby
Pride and Joy
Texas Flood
Tell Me
Testify
Rude Mood

Disclaimers and whatnot:

- Download the Serenade - Single with an exclusive track: http://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/browserRedirect?url=itms...

- Visit Xygni's blog at xygnisthingblog.blogspot.com!

- Download the Serenade single here: http://uploading.com/files/MVRCQAMR/serenade.mp3.html

- Become a fan of Xygni on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Xygni/48587573776

-Our scale goes from .5 to 10 in increments of .5. Songs that get a 5 or above are recommendable, with 10 being the most recommendable. Songs that get under 5 are mediocre. JUST BECAUSE WE GIVE A SONG A SIX DOES NOT MEAN IT SUCKS.

- From now on, DLC reviews will feature only the DLC that I would have bought anyway, or the DLC I can afford.

  • First off, pride and joy and texas flood were my least favorites in their respective games so not everybody loves them. And second off, there's too much blank space in Texas Flood to give it a 10

  • There's like, 5 seconds of blank space every once in a while between the coolest guitar riffs ever. Try Ritalin.

  • Wow, you guys are fucking stupid. Don't say this is a review based on the song, say it's based off your dumbass opinions. Also to Xygni, jesus christ you're like a fucking idiot. OMG the drummer keeps a beat. Wow welcome to fucking music dumbass. Fuck people should know more about music before they try to speak about it. Oh yeah by the way Double Trouble was Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, both are well known and respected blues musicians. Go back to listening to your fucking scene music FAGS

  • I know the drummer is supposed to keep a beat. But this is a video game. The scores are there to tell people who only play fake drums whether it's fun on fake drums or not. I've got no problem with Chris Layton. I don't really understand why you had to call us fags when we didn't do anything to you, but I guess the anonymity of the internet kind of gives you balls you normally don't have, huh? Also, scene music sucks, and I'm a big fan of electric blues/blues rock esp SRV and BB Chung King.

  • One of Cookie's better reviews - where he actually reviews instead of making jokes for 30 seconds and throws in an unrelated number.

No offense, the jokes are funny, it's just not... you know, a review. I prefer this style. :)

  • he said "Old Yngwie" meaning Yngwie Malmsteen, who is just ridiculous at guitar

  • Nice, that's a pretty fair score for those songs. I really enjoy the Stevie Ray Vaughn songs. Playing guitar on them is tough and challenging due to the blues influence.

  • yellow on drums for this song didn't represent the tom, it was an accented snare

  • Shuffle? Swing? Triplets? lol

  • Cookie, the "blues thing" is called a blues shuffell.

  • I do miss the comments that Xygni makes when they show the song name and artist. Critical Acclaim's and This Calling's comments were probably the best.

    Good times...

  • Yeah, truckin' brought my piss to a boil as well. did not like it.

  • YES!! THE FIRST 10!!!

  • the funny thing is that he also sounds like randal (SOMETIMES) lol

  • Haha, absolutely, I also enjoyed Testify and Rude Mood on drums, on expert.

The two of them may be repetitive but the overall feel of the friggin song make it worth it.

Rude Mood is also awesome, I don't know why xygni hated it.

Oh, and alt strumming is the new black.
