I think the song is also about being generally depressed because of being "lost in" trying to find meaning in a world that was promised to be fruitful and rewarding ("the supermarket")

London Calling is such a FUCKING UNBELIEVABLY GREAT album. It just gets better and better as the years continue to roll on by. We're so lucky to have had their music to listen to in our lifetimes. LONG LIVE THE CLASH!

So, I'm the dude in the wig. Over the holidays I was reminded of this video and was inspired to look it up youtube. It really affected me and just reading through the comments section made me realize EXACTLY what this song is about. I want to thank everyone who gave this video a thumbs down and posted there thoughts. I still listen to this album and am still blown away by it's message.

Who cares? Yeah, that's what the songs about, also about commercialism and such things.
But as its a SONG, it's an art form, people can interpret however they please, that's what songs are for.
If a kid is having fun doing a video for the Clash from a generation who is years ahead of this band, Joe Strummer couldn't care less what this video is, he's just be damn proud and happy that people still listen to his music and have fun doing so.,
