As for Ahmed Rashid, he is rated as the 51st most influential thinker of 2009 as judged by Foreign Policy magazine.
There are few people in Pakistan who can take such line in public. I never knew that he lived in my city Lahore, and had been an active guerilla fighter back in 70's in the Baluchistan region.
The security establishment of our country has caused the most damage to civilian supremacy and the rule of law.
People have looked at the likes of Musharraf, Zia and Ayub and still we talk of this so called patriotism which does not go beyond bashing India or blaming U.S , Israel or the petty politicians of the country.
