Maria got an excellent backhand and serve, but I don't think she could be the right teacher about how to hit a forehand... hers is effective but tecnically not perfect at all

Sharapova actually more beast than beauty. That's why she's the absolute best amongst the younger players.
Then again, she could be beauty and the beast at the same time. Hot bod, beast moves.

Don't forget Maria is technically left handed but trained her right hand for tennis!

everyone knows her technique, scream until the opponent cant take it anymore! :P

@djfitzy there is now a days not really good female tennis players, but for example Justine Henin plays better tecnically. Sharapova plays only with force, she doesn't tries diferent movements like for example drops. Sharapova tries only with force back left and right so that the other player not more answer. These is not a good player, its "common"

Her forehand in the 2006 us open final was tremendous, she followed through over her should 85% of the time, i think that helped her really get her body into the shot minimizing her unforced errors and making them winners, rather than pull up on the shot with a reverse follow through and hit the net, her serve back then was awesome too

extremely difficult serve out wide by Maria at 2:33

Yeah but Lindsay is able to still hit through the ball when she hits a reverse follow through. Sometimes Maria jerks up too soon. She also uses more elbow than she should. The sudden jerking motion may be what hurt her shoulder. It's an effective shot, but I've seen it break down.

hei , let's be serious, SHARAPOVA is anything but elegant in her shots. Hingis was an ELLEGANT player in her executions.

well... Sharapovas this years injury was caused by backhand - during Indian Wells. She was reaching for a backhand and have twisted her right shoulder. BTW - her two handed backhand is techniquely right, and many trainers are using it as an example of perfect technique <- strangely enough don't you think?
