Lots of typos in this message but it's mostly a true statement. The problem is it should be on something like YELP for the serious truck driving job seeker.
Funny...I made 42,000 my first year with Werner then made 70,000 my second year then bought a truck and made over 200,000 last year....guess I'll go somewhere else so I can make some money....
@mrblanche I tend not to trust any company when your miles are governed or any company that misses expenses to the point that it costs you your personal time in having to back track and claim those expenses that were turned in with your trip pak. General freight companies (some at least) have been known to screw their drivers over. They can't guarantee you a steady paycheck. If they wanted to retain drivers they would offer salary. Pretty f'd up if companies are still paying mover's guide.
So, you got crosswise to Werner when you wouldn't work, huh?
I worked there 10 1/2 years, most of the time teaming with my wife. We made very good money, drove great trucks, and ended up buying our first truck there.
I have every reason to believe I could make $50,000 there per year again, if I had to leave my very nice local job.
I have found that attitude and dependability make a big difference. So many drivers think they are "loners," without supervision and free to do as they please.
@balance1200 I'm sorry you don't think highly of werner but they aren't bad. Just gotta remember they are a large training company and odds are a driver is not going to retire from the first company they worked for without jumping ship.
