Providence RI Tax Day Tea Party 4/15/2009

Slide show of the crowd gathered at the Rhode Island State House for the Providence RI Tax Day Tea Party. It was invigorating to see such a great turn-out and be with like-minded people - the Silent Majority, silent no more.

Lacking a wide angle lens, I had to shoot a series of photos across the crowd left to right to take in the panorama. And I had to shoot a few times, as the crowd grew. Reports have it at 3,000. Nice!

So what did my sign say?
"IT'S NOT YOUR PARTY,
IT'S YOUR PERFORMANCE:
YOU'RE FIRED!"

Democrat or Republican doesn't matter. It's the wrong attitude that pervades our state legislature and Congress that's the problem. They lose their hearing and their memory the moment they lower their hand after taking oath of office.

Term limits for all elected officials! Maybe then they'd stay on their toes. And even if they don't, they're out in a finite time. As a Rhode Islander, I have no power to vote out Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. Heck, even in my own state, misguided Camelot lovers keep sending the likes of Patrick Kennedy back to Washington! But term limits would clean house (and senate) effectively.

Elected office should not be a lifetime career.

You really should treat me and other taxpayers better - we pay your bills. Although it's true that taxpayer numbers ARE shrinking compared to you taxusers, moochers, and looters. If you were really a taxPAYER instead of a taxUSER, you'd feel the same, and you'd have been there last year and this year, too. Beware of biting the hand that feeds you.
