Wow your 45's in rough shape. I've got the UK/NZ pressing on Top Rank and it sounds ten times cleaner than this. I've also got a bent up copy of Limbo Rock on Parkway.

@dayg715 The song was written and originally released in 1959 by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters as a B-side (to "Teardrops on Your Letter")
The song, and the dance the Twist, was popularized in 1960 when the song was covered by Chubby Checker.
In 1988, "The Twist" became popular once again, due to a new recording of the song by The Fat Boys featuring Chubby Checker.

This song was 50 years ago no.7 in the world charts

A #1 hit for Chubby Checker in September 1960. It would hit #1 again in January 1962, becoming at the time the only song to have two runs in the #1 spot. This sparked a dance craze across the US and the world. On other posts, I have asked who the breakout act of this new decade would be. Well, if this was any indication, it could be this young man from the Low Country of South Carolina. We'll just have to wait and see.

@dayg715 I have no clue what you're talking about. Hank Ballard wrote the song, but this is Chubby Checker singing it, just as the label says!
