@banabread I know exactly what ur talking. Those r two Catch Wrestling moves. They r very effective to use and counter with. People and arts try to re name techniques that already exist. The infamous Kimura which is actually a double wrist lock, was taught to Kimura by Catch Wrestlers. U still having doubt? Pick up a copy of Rough and Tumble and ull get da point.

works great when rolling with big dudes

This is very true. Mixed Martial Arts is just that mixing from different arts. Tracing the linage of techniques is next to impossible.

It's called the Buttock Compressor ... /watch?v=7y0ZlWBVSU8

All you have to do to get out of this is BEND YOUR LEG. It's that simple. The guy locking you down can only go until his leg is straight. The person being locked down can bend his leg all the way if necessary. You simply bend your leg and turn it sideways and lay your foot on the mat.

the reason eddie names everything his own way is so it is easyer to remember.

You should its a great art form...

haha oh man i guess i misunderstood what I heard. I'm a 10th planet and bjj guy, I don't know too much catch wrestling, would love to train some though
@getdatapjj I believe what a lot of people r missing is that is that manny of these moves were originated and were being used by Catch Wrestlers until other Arts like Judo and Bjj caught on to Catch. Credit needs to be given where it's deserved. A lot Arts like to take credit for example Kimura technique. Who u gonna kid with that? Im a Kung Fu stylist who has crossed trained in Judo extensively. No offense to any Art/ Arts out there, just sharing origin of techniques.

Once a Martial Art is named it becomes a brand. People often look at BJJ as an innovative art based on its extensive use of the guard, position before submission concept, and the ability practice techniques against a resisting opponent. What really keeps the art alive is its ability to absorb techniques from other arts and still remain a unique brand.
