While inside doing a search of a workinf house fire the roof collapsed on my partner and I. My partner was quickly able to get into the kitchen and out of harms way. I was still tangled in debris and unable to follow him into the kitchen. Once I was able to free myself from the debris i was still unable to make it to the kitchen do to the fire load and more falling debris. My partner advised that he could make it to the steps and that he had made it to the hallway and was able to get out. I had to exit a window on side charlie via a ladder that had just been placed in service by the truck driver. All Firefighters were able to exit the house without major injury.

  • you get off the truck...RUN into the front door, don't size up and ask someone who has been there before you got there what is going on....stop in the house right in the door way and then say....do we go up or down??? your response... I DON'T KNOW...then why are you running into the freakin building .. what exactly do you are accomplishing with your halligan by yourselves, dont get me wrong i am truckie myself but honestly that was one of the most ridiculous things i have ever seen

  • @dalwitten1 Just cause you can read doesn't make you good. These guys prob have 10+ more years in the service then you so what you should do is take this video and use it to see how you should act when one or more of your brothers goes down in a fire. BALLS TO THE WALL, GET HIS ASS OUT! So since you are new to the service I would say keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open.

  • I am glad you boys made it out, but hope you learned from your almost fatal mistake.Oh and one more thing. Keep that damn haligan at the front door and take in a Ferrell hook, so that you can help pull ceiling, and search for extension when initial knockdown is over. Stay safe and NO FREELANCING!

  • Normally I restrict myself to reading comments and not posting but..... I understand fully wanting to get your ass balls deep in some fire, Im a pipeman on a buisy engine that gets roughly 100-150 working structures a year so I understand. But you don't freelance, and this almost got you killed. I know all departments don't opperate the same but there are a few principles that should always be followed so that the lessons learned from fallen brothers are not for nothing.

  • dubya3231 you are right!!! i havent had this happen to me because i was trained right not to freelance. these folks are lucky they werent killed. "Dont be part of the problem, be part of the solution"

  • @USMarine510 your absolutely right, you both freelanced and you nearly got killed, stupid mistakes that make all firefighters look bad. why are you on air when you get out of the truck, thats a waste of critical air, two did you make a plan no, you simply did not get propper training and i swear there are some stupid ass people who join the fire service and you end up not being a help to yourself or anyone else. @ffp152, these guys have got to be amatuers, cause they wont last longer than 10 yrs

  • just going to say they should have shut that line down have fun with steam burns

ur a real cowboy running into that one who are u kurt russell

  • Where was the may day I never Hurd one

  • @USMarine510, its easy for you to judge but whats not shown or heard is any command given via radio prior to the video rolling and them committing to a search.. call it stupid call it dumb, call it what you will but they're firefighters, obviously will a line stretched through the front door, an interior crew is already inside, theres a strong chance that this secondary crew was given orders for to commence a search for victims.. glad everyone made it out unscathed! btw, just making a point :)

  • squad 7 man.. dont listen to these goons talking all this shiz. they probably havent had this happen to them so all they can do is quote text book shit. my advice to you is play this video within your department as a training tool so that it doesnt happen again. all these comments from all the firefighters hating on what he did, you should be kicked in the grundle.
