I'm trying to take this hill at Beasley with a fairly stock 2008 JK Sahara with open diffs. Watch what happens when the "brake lock differentials" try to deal with the rock shelf at the top of the hill ---- they just sort of all brake and leave me motionless. It's a pretty steep hill; the video doesn't do it justice.
I'm on 285/75-16 Goodyear MTR/kevlars aired to about 20 psi.

  • Looks like a good time! The Excursion did great this past weekend on Bell Mountain and FS 283, along with some side trail (869 or something like that) that I saw. Gonna have to go hit Beasley Knob next to see what it'll do. :-)

  • Some of the hills will give you enormous problems due to your breakover angle --- you'd need 37's I'd think.

These trails favor small/light rigs that don't mind a few dings.

  • are there any good mudd hole to thrash around in at beasley?

  • I didn't see any mud holes there ---- it was muddy and it was steep. If you need more than that to practice your skills..... ....I mean, it is STEEP there...

  • The sahara Trac-loc system needs more foot into the skinny pedal. Can't necessarily nurse it as easily as lockers but, the sahara doesn't have a true "open diff" like atotally stripped down X or Sport model

  • Does anyone still go there... Im heading up for the 4th and it doesnt seem as if anyone does

  • Do you have any other angles of this hill, because it doesn't look steep at all :o
