Last night, AMD and Microsoft organised an informal media dinner, at the Carnelian Room, to celebrate the collaboration between the two companies on the eve of Windows Vista launch next week. The "cream" of the Bay Area's business and high-tech journalists were invited. Among them, Don Clark of the WSJ, Dan Farber (ZDNet), francophone Alexei Oreskovic (TheStreet.com), Tom Sanders (VNU UK), Phil Keys (Nikkei BP) and myself of course... thanks very much! The food was surprisingly less than par (an important detail, even for a froggy living here!) and not much news to munch on at the demo stations: all were PCs and laptops that were shown at CES, a couple weeks ago, if not before! But we had a good chat with Mike Sievert, Corporate VP Windows Client at Microsoft (in charge of Windows profit & loss) and Mario RIvas, Executive VP of AMD's Computing Products Group.
