I always thought this was THE cut on the album - key LP track

All kinds of people love Vanity, but she is to the black community what Marylin Monroe is to the white community. She represents feminine beauty and sensuality and has influenced so many women after her. She is and will always be a legend. The passage of time has already shown that.

this was absolutely my favorite song by Vanity, and I remember when this show aired on television

Sad this is not a part of today's 80s playlists. A gem in a world of junk we're still required to listen to..

Also this was a performance from smokey robinson presents motown review on nbc...back in 1985.

What the hell is she talking about? I LOVE this song!!!

You cant tell me this is not better than anything Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, or Lady GaGa have ever done. She really was getting to be a decent singer with this album. Too bad dope and rock n roll lifestyle ruined her.

@LiteraryWriter yeah, she all that and a bag o' chips!
This is Vanity's most impressive work; it stands as a work of classical pop music. Denise's movements are soft and fluid, like poetry; she has a balletic elegance, a grace that cannot be learned, only innately understood. The lyrics have an unusual depth of meaning and emotion, a far cry from the body of her other work. There is a real vulnerability here, like a little girl lost, and one can hear the lament of hopes faded, a reluctant movement into the fate that awaits her. Outstanding piece.

She has great emotion in this video. I can totally relate to this song of unrequieted love....A classic song. She found her voice and sounds very sweet. Love her til the end of time.
