Attleboro Christmas is for Kids Program

Today's uncertain economic climate has put financial strain on many working people. So although many people are working, it doesn't take much, a lost job, a medical emergency, etc... to put people in a position of having to choose between food for their family and heat for their homes, leaving precious little, if anything, for gifts for their children for Christmas.

In 1983, the Attleboro Area Council for Children located in Attleboro, Massachusetts created a gift-giving program called Christmas is for Kids™ a program that provides a happy Christmas to children who would otherwise go without a gift on Christmas Day. Parents of children in need submit requests to the Council so their children can participate in the program. The children's wish list is then published in our local paper, The Sun Chronicle on the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Caring individuals and families will call our Donor hotline and sign up to sponsor a child where they agree to
donate the gifts that the child has requested and deliver them to our Donor Drop-off Center. Then these generous donations are distributed to the appreciative parents on Distribution Day. Most of these kids are aware of their circumstances and don't expect much for Christmas. Imagine their joy, when the awaken on Christmas Day to find that their wishes have been fulfilled by the many hundreds of caring Santas who have helped make their Christmas dreams come true. It is truely a sight to behold!

Over the years, many thousands of children have benefited from the generosity of the people in the greater Attleboro area who choose to make a difference in a child's life.
