Here is a video which shows the main differences between the French versions of Walt Disney's Pinocchio.

▪ The 1946 French dubbing has never been avaible in stores but the song «When You Wish Upon a Star» from this version is avaible on the recent 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition on Blu-ray Disc and some DVD.

▪ The 1975 French dubbing was made for the re-release of the movie in France in April 1978. It was avaible on VHS from 1985 to 1995.

▪ In 1995, this dubbing was a little corrected : Instead of «Jiminy Grillon», Pinocchio's conscience is now called «Jiminy Cricket», its original name. This first correction's been avaible on VHS since 1995.

▪ The second corrected version is from 2003. Rather than «Qu'est-ce que ça peut te foutre ?», which was considered as a rude sentence, Lampwick now says «Qu'est-ce que ça peut te faire ?». It has been avaible on DVD since 2003.

▪ In 2009, the movie was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc as a Platinum Edition. This Edition can be considered as a patchwork of all these previous versions : the Blu-ray Disc and the DVD formats use the 1946 dubbing, the non-corrected dubbing from 1975 and the two corrections from 1995 and 2003 at the time.

  • C'est pas un peux grossier pour des enfants d'entrendre le Qu'est-ce que ça peut te foutre ?

  • Yes, the 1946 dub could be a lost treasure. But in the 1975 dub, Jiminy Cricket is voiced by Roger Carel, the same guy who voiced Asterix the Gaul in all eight of the original French Asterix movies thus far.

  • moi j'ai la cassette version 75 le son et encore dans un magnifique état

  • Dc dans le doublage de 1995 et 2003, ce ne sont que des redoublages partiels ? C'est quand même le doublage de 1975 ?

  • I wonder if they redubed it in 1975 because the first one was lost or was in critical condition.

Or was it because they wanted the soundtrack to sound like most modern flim releases as possible with full voice accurency recording being just like flims of as of 1975.

After all, Films made outside your Courtney will most likely to get redubbed due to new holders (Mostly Japanese animation)

  • man the french knew whats up they had blu ray back then
