We decided to stay here for Irene. Of course, being a video producer, I had to capture some of it to share. Didn't want to damage my pro equipment as that's how I make a living, but I did take the GoPro HD cam, iPhone 4, and sometimes my Canon DSLR out for some images and video. This is the result. Totally crazy to be walking around out in the Sound that's completely empty! If you live, or have visited, The Villas you'll recognize most of this!

  • Hey Auntie! Thank you :-)

  • Oh, I know about Colington! I lived back there for a while, and I know it must've been crazy. Prayers going out to all who suffered damage during this storm!

  • Thanks for sharing! I was trapped in Manteo. I've lived in Manteo my entire life and never seen a storm this unbelievable. Our damage consisted of two feet of water in my house. I'm blessed that it wasn't worse though. I'm glad I stayed to weather the storm out or I wouldn't have believed it!!

  • Emotaco...it's royalty free music created especially for video production by digital juice

  • Anybody know the song?

  • Awesome, Tony. And it could have been so much worse! We prayed every night for everyone in it's path. Thank God you are okay. Love, your favorite Auntie!

  • Great video. I love my GoPro camera too. We left Thursday about 9a before Irene from Frisco,NC ,they wouldn't even let us stay to help board windows, our hosts said they had it taken care of. We love the island, especially the tri-villages. Thanks for the videos.I have my week before Irene videos up if you care to view them sometime.I got some porpoises on video as well.

  • Thanks for being so brave to 'weather the storm' -- at least I think you are brave-- or maybe foolish?! ;-) I watched live coverage by a storm tracker team of the sound being emptied from the causeway between Nags Head and Roanaoke Island. It was scary. Your video has more impact because we see you actually walking in the sound where there should be several feet of water, and then we see the aftermath. Just heatbreaking.

We are only visitors to the OBX -- we come in March & stay in Duck.

  • Thank you for sharing. My sister was stuck on collington and yes it was devastating

  • Fritz - the Azteca is fine...just lost thier sign
