  • There is yet a better clip that clearly shows Prost turning in earlier than the usual. When asked, Prost said "yes maybe I turned in a bit early".

Bottom line, Prost played dirty in '89, but he should have known that it was a matter of time until he was gonna get passed in the race. Shame that a champion needed to appeal to dirty driving of this sort!

  • @csfm00 On voit très bien sur cette vidéo vu d'hélicoptère la "manoeuvre" de Prost à 1' 17". youtube.com/watch?v=gQiFet2FI24&feature=related

  • @NARB57 Yes, the maneuver by Prost shows him not taking the usual line and turning in early instead. You can say that it was a risky gamble by Senna but this should not excuse Prost's "closing the door" on Senna. The broadcasters are simply giving their opinion and they were actually wrong. Alain himself admitted it in an interview that he had turned early.

  • @NARB57 As a fan of AP that you are, it is obvious you have your mind made up. You can't however just believe what you want to believe blindly; without reading and listening what critics have to say about the '89 & '90 feud. Prost closed the door on Senna in '89 and in doing so, causing an accident. In '90 Senna aggressively took out Prost, mostly to show the world that he could not win against Prost AND Balestre!

  • @csfm00 Il y a erreur, je ne suis pas Fan de Prost la preuve sur mon site ICI:

"you-fom.jimdo.com" Pour le reste je suis tout à fait d'accord avec vous sur les faits e 89-90.

  • These cars were absolutely stunning in comparison with the cars of today.

  • Read the rules, 10-year-olds. Senna's manouvre was dangerous, but completely within the rules of the sport. Prost's turn-in, however, was not. but, since they both went off, there was no need for a penalty. What was unfair is that Senna actually got back into the race and won it in only 5 or so laps and was disquallyfied by a FRENCH stward. (unfairly, of cource)

  • Prost did here the same move as Senna did everytime.

So, I don´t understand why any Senna fan can complain about Prost´s move!

Senna did that to Schumacher in France 92, Senna did that to Hill in Monza 93, Senna did that to Mansell in Australia 1992, Senna did that to Mansell Portugal 1989 (was even more stupid because Nigel was dq), and so on, and so forth...

Here, Senna is more angry because he lost by his own dirty tactics.

  • @TheColinChapman You're right about everything you said. Prost did turn in early, and yes, he did have that choice to protect his lead. You basically described Senna to a "T".. he was a risk taker, sometimes to a fault. The same thing he was famous for was the same thing that often got him in trouble. But when growing up and watching F1 as kid, it was Senna that made me watch the sport.

    Long live the Legend!

  • @csfm00 yes, he turned in soon. But isn't this his right as the leader? Who reaches the corner first is to choose his line. And it was Senna who needed to see the chequered flag, not Prost, so it was a bad call to risk so much. And it wasn’t"a matter of time until Prost was gonna get passed"since it happened with only 6 laps to go.But we don't have to argue, since it didn’t alter the title decision. To become WC, Senna would have needed to win Adelaide, too– but there he ran into Brundle (again).

  • Senna was nearly or if not half way passed Prost's car - any driver especially a professional one should have yielded - Senna at that point had the right of way - Prost tried to close the door well knowing Senna was there and half way passed him

  • Whatever Prost did or didnt, as Hunt said, even if Prost turned in a bit early, he had every right to do so, as he was the one in front - that was evil from Prost and unfortunately, Senna eat Prost´s bacon and that was it. What however was absolutely unfair was, what Balestre did. Senna would have been DQ for getting a pushed start, but he wasnt. He was DQ because he went down the escape road. That to me suggests, that they were searching for a cause to DQ him and didnt realise, there was one...

  • @csfm00 Senna was as much of a dick and an asshole than Prost. Deal with it.

  • Alessandro Nanninis only win

  • Prost clearly wanted to take off Senna of the race! Was not just a question about 'closing doors', cause the intention was not protect the position, but take off the opponent (of the race) in order to be champion!! Criminal!
