You gave her a beautiful home, filled with love and joy. She was as blessed you to have her.

This world needs more people like you. You are beautiful people. God bless you.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! At least she had lots of love and care for the time that she was with you!

You truly are blessed to have such a lovely old man and he is so blessed with a wonderful loving family. Our newf looks just like Blackie. He is 13 years and 7 months and would really like to meet this wonderful old gal. You can find him by searching for Old Man Steamer on You Tube.

Cancer and bone problems are very common in the breed for some reason. Watch out for choking on food---learn dog CPR! Cole almost choked to death about a week before he died.

I'm in tears now! She's a beautiful girl and so lucky to have you all! We have a 15 wk old Newf, Sofie, along with our Pyrenees, Sheltie Mix, and our Golden Ret. which is 13 and is in better shape than she was 10. She's arthritic and hip problems but I add to her night meal, flax oil, Vit E, A, D, fish oil, selenium, 2 tabs of pet Glucosamine and 1 Senior vit. It took 1 mos, then one day she slowly climbed the stairs to the 2nd floor, something she hasn't done in years! She even plays more now.

Thanks so much for the comment! Sadly, we had to put Blackie down last December 16 after she slipped on the ice and couldn't get up... hips just couldn't do it anymore. We miss her terribly and don't regret one day we took care of her. Sounds like your golden is doing great! Keep it up! We have a 5 year old blond lab who is the joy of our life now - he misses Blackie too, but loves all the extra attention! Cap has been with us for a year but it's like he's been with us forever!

You are indeed blessed, and so is Blackie. What a beautiful girl, and what a beautiful family of critters. My current Newf (my fifth) was also adopted from a breeder/exhibitor, but he was lucky to have always been extremely well cared for, and when it became apparent that he should not be bred, his owners had the wisdom to help him find a good pet home with us. Congratulations, I'm so glad you have found eachother.

Thanks Kathy! We love her so much and just hope her cancer doesn't come back. Unfortunately, she also has very back alkylosing spondylosis in her spine and has trouble walking (trips over her feet) and is now haveing a hard time getting up and down the 5 stairs to enter the house. We're hoping maybe cortisone shots might limber her up. She lies down at any chance sahe gets and sleeps about 18 hours/day. She'll be 10 this year. Sounds like you're a pretty blessed newf owner too!

She is a beautiful dog, and she is as lucky to have you as you are to have her. I am often amazed that some people could "have no use.....anymore" for one of these wonderful dogs. Congratulations on adopting this beautiful girl. If she is your first Newfie, you will be surprised at the love and the loyalty that you will receive from her. I am currently owned by two Newfies, a 2 year-old male and a 5 month-old female. Their names are Thunder and Crickett, and they own my heart.

She is my first dog and my husband's first newf. Our next dog will also be a newf and we've been blown away at how loyal she is - we don't even need a leash to walk her! I would love to see pics of Thunder and Cricket!
