~ GEORDIE ~ traditional. Sung by Joan Baez
"GEORDIE: One of the foundations of Joan`s first five years (1958-63) was lending her pristine falsetto to six Child Ballads: "Silver Dagger", "Mary Hamilton","Henry Martin", "Matty Groves", "House Carpenter", and the ill-fated "George" (Child Ballad No. 209) Ah Geordie,ye stole sixteen of the Kings`e royal deer, and sold them in Bohenny. Now your wife pleads for your life to the judge, but he cannot pardon ye. Joan says: "Geordie, and "Mary Hamilton are the ultimate, traditional classics, which I never tire of singing and hearing. My 'achingly pure sopranno' exists no more, but the beauty of the song has carried it through the decades."
-- From JOAN BAEZ "RING THEM BELLS"
Such a voice , she's a treasure, and Geordie he's found his home. Thank you for the kind words you expressed about Lily, it helped that you understand-- we lost one of the family, now she's gone and I keep looking for her,not so much as days go by. Such is life but you were so sweet, it meant a lot. Tim and KK
